Brief Introduction of Sichuan

  Sichuan Province is located in southwest China, has an area of 485.000 square kilometers. The four words can be used to describe the tourism resources of Sichuan: abundant, diverse, widely distributed, and superb in taste. Theses are a rare combination of attributes in China and that even in the world.

  Chengdu is the capital city of Sichuan province, as one of the 24 China’s Key Historical and Cultural Cities, Chengdu has many tourism resources. UNESCO lists Mt. Qingcheng, the birthplace of Taoism, together with the Dujiangyan Irrigation Project as the World Cultural Heritage. In the downtown areas of Chengdu, are a number of scenic spots and relics, such as: Kuan and Zhai Alley, Jinli Street, Dufu’s Thatched Cottage, The Giant Panda Breeding and Research Base, as well as the most famous National Park, 419Km away from Chengdu- Jiuzhaigou Since ancient times, Chengdu has been known as the “Land of Abundance”. Today it is also world famous for the Giant Pandas, and is recognized as the hometown of the pandas.

  1. Kuan and Zhai Alley
  Being in the list of Chengdu Historical and Cultural Protection Project, Kuan and Zhai Alley is composed of broad alley, narrow alley and across alleys, among which, there are a lot of traditional courtyards, or Siheyuan. It is one of the three major historical & cultural conservation areas in Chengdu City, it is not only the last relic of the city pattern of "thousand-year-old young city" and the one-hundred-year original architectural structure of old Chengdu, but also the only existing copy in southern China from the lane (Hutong) culture and architectural style of northern China.
  Some very old alleys in Chengdu where some important people had lived, after its reconstruction, the Kuan and Zhai Alley has been reopened to pubic and is now, one of the hottest tourist destinations in Chengdu.

  2. Jingli Street
  Chengdu “Jinli Street”, is a famous folk charm block in Chengdu, covers an area of 30,000 square meters, with the construction area of more than 14000 square meters and 550 meters long. It is a place where you can enjoy the old culture of Three Kingdoms( Feudalism period in 220 AD), and the same time, a good traditional leisure street concentrates with tourism, shopping, leisure and entertainment as a whole.
  Jinli streets regularly held traditional wedding ceremony, and traditional music, drama, folk costume show.

  3. Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding& Research Base (CGPBRB)
  The Giant Panda is a national treasure of China, the emblem of the World Wildlife Fund, and the Giant Panda is also reputed as the “living fossil” of fauna in the world..
  The Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding& Research Base situated on the Axe Hill 10 kilometers north of Chengdu, this 600-acre research station and breeding ground has been in operation since in 1987, opened to the public in early in 1995. Pandas as well as other endangered species like lesser pandas and black-necked crane currently reside at the base. It is the most ideal ecological tourism place for visitors all around world to get to know the appearance of giant pandas and to get around the wild nature.

  4. Du fu 's thatched cottage堂
  One of the Chengdu's most famous attractions was set up in honor of the poet Du Fu (712-70 AD), a man who wrote lots of enduring poems in the Tang Dynasty. Dufu wrote more than 200 poetical masterpieces that are still highly regarded as national treasures by the Chinese.
Du Fu's Thatched Cottage is a park of his former residence and is the most beautiful green space in Chengdu. When fled as a refugee from the Henan province ( Mid part of China) at the age of 20, Dufu built his home in Chengdu in the year 760.
  Du Fu’s Thatched Cottage consists of many interesting structures, including the Hall of Verse History, the Water Platform & Faggot Gate, Gong Bu Temple, the Tablet Pavilion and a replica of the original thatched cottage.

  5. Jiuzhai National Park
  Jiuzhai National Park is a nature reserve in the north of Sichuan, a province in south western of China, It is known for its many multi-level waterfalls and colorful lakes, and was listed as the World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1992. It is belongs to the “V”categories (protected Landscape) in the IUCN system of protected area.
  Due to the geological movement caused by glaciations, earthquakes and calcification, the Park boasts a number of unique features. The mountains, lakes, natural primeval forest, beautiful flowers all make Jiuzhai National Park a fairyland. Mountains here are covered by a variety of trees and plants such as green conifers, luxuriant broadleaf trees and colorful rare flowers and grasses. Scenes change according to the season and the area is particularly colorful in autumn. Undoubtedly, the magnificent view in Jiuzhai National Park will make you reluctant to leave, and don't forget that the autumn is the best season to visit it.

  1. Hot pot
  Hot pot is the most famous and favorite dish in Sichuan, which are not only noted for its peppery, hot and fresh taste, but also known for its delicious soup base and dipping sauce. Because the steamy weather of south-western part of China, Sichuan people loved their hot pot. Although hotpot can be found wherever there are street vendors or small restaurants, Sichuan Hot pot has the greatest variety.

  2. Longchaoshou (Long Wonton)
  Longchaoshou is a famous snack of Chengdu. Its a little bit like another Chinese food dumpling or Wonton, but with special southwest food characteristics, which are honey smell, smooth and full, it taste better than traditional dumpling,

  3. Sandapao
  Sandapa is a fashionable snack of Chengdu, made by glutinous rice basically. It is being known as Sandapa because of its producing process, there are three clear and loud sounds when it being finished, therefore people named it as Sandapao(or Three Big gun). It is taste soft and sweet.

  4. Fuqi Sliced Beef( or Couples Sliced Beef)
  Fuqi Sliced Beef is a typical Chengdu snacks loved by most people, it is made of sliced Beef, ox heart, tongue, tripe, combined with many ingredients such as: peanut, spicy oil, pepper powder, soy sauce, sesame oil. Fuqi Sliced Beef is smells good and taste spicy, fresh and soft.
